Volunteer opportunities

The Billings Gazette is committed to promoting volunteerism as a way to build a caring community for all citizens, especially our youth. This weekly listing includes opportunities available with organizations registered with the United Way Volunteer Center.

1. American Red Cross

Training for volunteers to become local and national Disaster Relief workers is being held this month. Please call for times of class schedules.

2. Senior Helping Hands

Call Tiffany Kelker at 259-3111

The Elder and Phone Friend Program is in need of volunteers. A training session is being held from 10 to 11 a.m. Oct. 11 at 3310 Second Ave. N. No pre-registration is necessary, just come and get acquainted with the programs.

3. The Family Tree

Call Bonnie Champney at 252-9799

Spend only an hour a week providing a caring voice of experience to a new mom and support to a new family. Training for this mentoring program will be held on Oct. 18, 23 and 25. Please call for more information.
