Omaha-based band Little Brazil hit the stage with a force that made the crowd at the Railyard Wednesday night sit up and notice.

Bassist Danny Maxwell started bouncing from the first song, and despite a wall of distorted guitar, singer Landon Hedges' vocals cut through the noise with an impressive range and hooky pop melodies.

The band has been through town a few times, most recently with Saddle Creek band Ladyfinger in March, but seemed to have become an even tighter unit as a band.

They have been touring nearly constantly for the past few years, and released their third full-length album, Son, this spring.

Singer-songwriter and Billings native Hugh Healow started the evening off, showcasing songs he wrote with his brother. Despite having to play during the final outs of the World Series, he won over the crowd, which included family and friends, even getting his mom to bring him a drink during the set.

1090 Club finished the night with a short-ish set of their distinctive indie pop. It was the first time I had heard them play since the Railyard introduced their new sound system, and it really brought out the layers in the band's sound, particularly Megan Dibble's violin nuances.
