The bond for a school bus driver accused of hitting a teenager while driving drunk has been doubled to $50,000.
A new District Court arrest warrant with the higher bond was issued Friday, two weeks after an initial warrant was issued for Tim Whalen of Billings, said Deputy Yellowstone County Attorney David Carter.
Authorities haven't found Whalen and his whereabouts are unknown, Carter said.
Whalen is accused of hitting a teenager in a crosswalk while driving drunk. He faces four felonies, including negligent vehicular assault. The 15-year-old girl who was struck by the bus suffered a broken leg.
Yellowstone County Attorney Dennis Paxinos said Whalen may have fled the state. Whalen tried to hire an attorney and negotiate his surrender but the deal fell through.
Prosecutors said Whalen had a blood-alcohol content of .118 percent two hours after the Sept. 25 crash.
