MISSOULA - Former University of Montana quarterback Cole Bergquist has landed a spot on the Saskatchewan Roughriders' practice squad.
Bergquist was offered a contract by the B.C. Lions of the Canadian Football League after last year's playoffs, but held out, hoping for an NFL contract. Bergquist attended a San Diego Chargers mini camp, but wasn't offered a contract. He then tried out for Hamilton Tiger-Cats before landing on the Roughriders' practice squad.
Bergquist passed for more than 7,000 yards and 58 touchdowns in his career with the Griz.
