BOZEMAN - Top-ranked Billings West remained unbeaten in Eastern AA volleyball action with a four-game victory over No. 2 Bozeman on Thursday night.

After losing the first game, 25-23, the Golden Bears battled back to finish the night off with wins of 25-15, 25-20 and 27-25.

After trailing 23-13 in the fourth game, Billings West (22-3, 9-0) rattled off 14 of the game's next 16 points.

"When we were down 23-13, I felt terrible," said West head coach Beth Tocci. "I told the girls we could be done with game four and take our chances in game five or we could battle back and end the match - and that's what they did."

Cherina Walen (11), Jennifer Stone (11) and Mikensi Romersa (10) combined for 32 of the Bears' 40 kills. Romersa added 21 digs and Alex Canton provided two aces.

Bozeman (17-5) fell to 7-2 in the conference, with both losses coming at the hands of Tocci's Bears, who got seven blocks each from Kylie Nielsen and Stone.

"It was a big match for both teams," added Tocci. "Alex (Canton) did a great job serving in the final game. In each game we had someone different step up for us."

West will play at No. 4 Billings Senior on Saturday. The match begins at 2 pm.

After trading 25-14 victories in the match's first two games, Hardin rallied for 25-20 and 25-21 wins to take the match.

Laura Uffelman led the Lady Bulldogs with 13 kills, while Kandee Alvarado added 26 digs.

Laurel was led by Alex Stenger, who contributed five aces and five kills.
